Wicax asked: How do the statistics bureau measure longevity (life expectancy at birth)? Do they Count how many people die at what age? What about using infant mortality rate?

You simply take all the people that died in a period (or a representative sample), note their ages at death, and find the average age. That is the current life expectancy.
So yes it does factor in the ages of babies and children and young people that die, as part of the average.
